There is a new Star Trek convention in town and it’s name is TrekTrax! Eric Watts, formerly the head of the Star Trek Track at DragonCon, has started this convention and everybody is wondering how it will go. Come out this weekend and check it out, Atlanta could use the competition!
This weekend was the Rail Arts District Cruise, where a lot of the local shops and art groups opened their doors and let the public see what they do. I’ve lived in this area for several years now and Saturday was the first time I was able to get a good idea of what is available right next door. From artists, designers, glassblowers and printers, there is a wide variety of people I look forward to finding out more about in the year ahead. If you live in Atlanta and especially the Decatur area, I recommend checking out their site to see who is around.
On the first Monday of every month, the Mellow Mushroom in Decatur does a Drink & Draw starting at 8 p.m. They have live models (usually the fantastic Chris and Miracole Burns) that model various super hero costumes while a trivia contest is going on. It’s great fun and we’ll be out there tonight! The food is good, the company even better and it will give me a chance to work on my life drawing skills.
