Things have not worked out as expected.
The day started off just before midnight last night when my computer smelled of ozone and made a really big zappy noise. After picking myself up off the floor and thinking about the problem, we have decided that it was my old Apple CRT that was the zappy piece of equipment in question. That is why I’m currently using my little 12″ Cintiq tablet as my main display. It may not be large, but at least it doesn’t spark.
As for the rest of the day…well, I know I had a ‘to do’ list, I just never got to it. The computers at work seem to be in open revolt and this isn’t too good since I’m the IT Manager (I prefer BOFH) and all. I’ve got to get these little bugger sorted out before the trip next weekend for APE…and since one of the Mac minis is asking for Sarah Conner, I think I have my work cut out for me.
Long story short, the comic is delayed and I will do my best to finish it between all my other obligations. Good night, and in my case, good luck.
It turned out to be the SERVER! Who knew? Anyway, it’s probably the power supply, so it’s most likely not a big deal. It’s just the server. But it was a weird experience – especially since it was not even turned ON.
Yeah, it was a pretty strange experience! For everybody else:
We had a old CRT monitor hooked up to a second port on the power supply (older machines sometimes had this). The only thing I can guess is that the monitor was drawing enough power in sleep mode to help it go kablooey.
