Doing any kind of artwork can be very personal. Be it music, artwork or writing, it can come from the very guts of who a person is. The messy part comes from when it’s put out into the world. That’s when other peoples’ opinions come into play, and not everybody is going to like it. That’s the law of averages, there are going to be a percentage of the people that like whatever it is and another that will not.

That’s when people need to make a decision about what is more important: the creation or the criticism? I’d spent a lot of years not drawing, for fear my work would suck. You know what I ended up with? Nothing. I know what my response is now. I’d rather create something and it possibly suck, then do nothing. At least there is the chance of improving as something is done.
