Today is 10th Anniversary of Free Comic Book Day! In participating comic shops all around the World, you will be able to walk in and get FREE comic books! Many of these shops are also hosting special events in celebration of today, so go find a comic shop near you and go! If you don’t know where one is, the FCBD website has a form that you can type your location into and find the ones near you.

As you may know, to celebrate the ten year anniversary of Courtney Crumrin, Oni Press is releasing a new ongoing Courtney series, written and drawn by Yours Truly, as well as color hardcover editions of the  entire series. While you may not have noticed it, there have been some updates here on the site. Mostly its been behind the scenes sort of stuff, but one change you will notice is the new header graphic! Also in Think Weasel! news, the work on the next Collection continues and we expect to have a release date for you soon.

Work also continues on The Awkward Ninja Squad! The first storyline is written and hammering out the comic layout is going to happen this week.

As some of you know, I run a column here on ComicsBulletin.com called “What do you REALLY know about comics?” It’s a series of interviews where I ask non-comic readers to take part in a little experiment. First, I ask them to tell me what they know about comics; what the term comic book means to them. Then I get a sense of their entertainment interests and give them books to read based off what I think would best fit their interests. After they’ve read the books I suggested, we talk again and I see if the experience has in any way changed their opinions on what they thought comics were. Fun and simple. More times that not I’ve actually managed to make new fans of comics.

Today’s story is completely different.

It’s really too bad that so much work is put into making someone look too perfect.

We feature a lot of cosplay on this site, and I believe even this exact picture once or twice, so it sort of makes me sad to discover it’s a fake.

Well, in a sense. The boobs remain the same before the retouching (shocking) but everything from arm pudge to laugh lines have been altered for the final version of the picture we’ve all seen.

As of now, the next new comic will be up Thursday for Thanksgiving (I know, it wasn’t quite by then). Also, the schedule for Think Weasel! is going to be modified a bit. From now until the end of the year, there will be one update a week now on Thursday, with more as schedules permit.

Also, the next big thing, the Awkward Ninja Squad, will start in January of 2012. The specific date will (and update schedule) will be announced as plans come together. We hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season!
